About Us

Our Story

Created by a 1st Year Library and Information Technology student, what first began as a database used to compile a personal collection of books, the Nightingale Private Library was born through the curiosity of how modern every day Libraries work. The goal of the Library is to create a live database that contains the records of the personal collections contents and display it to the public in a way that can be accessed and borrowed by particular groups; mainly Library and Information Technology Students at Nova Scotia Community College.

Our Collection

The collection has been built over the last several years, with a large portion of materials added within the last three years and maintained by the Administrator. As of now, around 1/3 of the collection is made up of second hand books purchased from the local Non-Profit Mission Mart with new books being added all the time.

Many of the books contained in this collection have been selected because they are popular titles within the Young Adult genre or have been written by authors who critically acclaimed for their stories of myth and legend.

Interested In Becoming Part of the Library?

While the Nightingale Private Library is primarily for the use of Nova Scotia Community College students, anyone is able to request to become a patron and register a library card however only applicable requests will be accepted.
