Admin's Pick: Call Down The Hawk
This week's Admin's Pick is Call Down The Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater, a story that takes place in the quiet town of Henrietta, Virginia; a town lost amidst the mountainous landscapes that surround it. Once known for the physics who reside at 300 Fox Way that could tell the future and predict the supernatural, the town has once again fallen into a dream, forgotten like the dead they once worked to protect.
The dreamers walk among us . . . and so do the dreamed. Those who dream cannot stop dreaming - they can only try to control it. Those who are dreamed cannot have their own lives - they will sleep forever if their dreamers die.
And then there are those who are drawn to the dreamers. To use them. To trap them. To kill them before their dreams destroy us all.
Ronan Lynch is a dreamer. He can pull both curiosities and catastrophes out of his dreams and into his compromised reality.
Jordan Hennessy is a thief. The closer she comes to the dream object she is after, the more inextricably she becomes tied to it.
Carmen Farooq-Lane is a hunter. Her brother was a dreamer . . . and a killer. She has seen what dreaming can do to a person. And she has seen the damage that dreamers can do. But that is nothing compared to the destruction that is about to be unleashed. . . .
Niall Lynch was a dreamer who tried to sell his dreams for profit, however, it caused unwanted attention and resulted in his death. Joseph Kavinsky was a dreamer but he was too arrogant to realize the extent of his powers and his own creations were his downfall.
Ronan Lynch is a dreamer, and though he struggles to contain the monsters that run wild in his dreams, he has also brought life to his father's creations that laid dormant in his stead. He has awakened Cabeswater and the Raven King, and will soon wake Henrietta for better or for worse...
